Project Windy Storm Teaser Video Overview

Director's Point of View

Here is my long overdue overview of what I personally thought about my teaser video, film shooting, and everything else.  First of all, I am very happy with my 50mm lens that I have purchased early this year.  I've done research and a 50mm lens is supposed to be the lens that is used most to shoot professional video and by professional I mean the Hollywood filming type.  I was really excited to see what I can shoot with this thing.

As I started shooting lots of film, it felt great! I really wanted to show the world what I see when I head out downtown.  After looking through all the video I filmed, I noticed that there's lots of shaky cam.  I was disappointed by this because it looks like a amateur home video.  This I would say was my biggest failure!  I was kind of discouraged to continue this project afterwards for awhile, but then I realized I can learn from failure.  I am hoping that someday I invest in equipment to shoot steady video in a professional level.  

Enough about failure and let's talk about what worked.  There were times when I did carry my tripod and the results were phenomenal.  The best shoot I believe was when I went out to this auto show. In this auto show there was a motorcycle event and I got super close to capture the action.  There was a moment when the motorcycle was literally like a foot away from touching my camera…yeah it was stupid of me because I could've gotten my camera broken, but it was well worth the shot I took! This was my overall success of my project so far.

Editing is always a difficult process.  I tried to tie in video clips that were closely related to each other. For example, I wanted to transition all the city clips together and then all the vehicle clips, etc.  I believe I did a decent job at doing this part of the video.  Like I said, I was kind of disappointed with my shooting so I was limited with what I wanted to do in the editing process.  I chose the song for the video because one: Chicago based artist, two: I wanted a very short song for the teaser, three: wanted to send a message to all my family, close friends, and everyone who were close to me… a message saying thanks for being in my life and I'll always remember and miss all those good times.

For Artist Feature V I would like to present a good friend of mine, Clemente Renteria.  His photography is a really inspiring one.  I take a look at many of his photographs and I ask myself, 'How did you get take that shot?'  His photographs will make you stop and take a moment to appreciate the art behind it.  I picked the top six out of the 700+ photograph from his gallery.  I would strongly recommend that you take a look at the rest of his gallery.

I am very happy to introduce you all to a good friend of mine Cristina aka Esoterikos5.  She is another self taught artist and I am always impressed at the shots that she takes.  For fun we always jokingly challenge/criticize each other's work to see who's better, but she seriously does take amazing shots.  Below are the images(trying to keep maximum of 6 pics for each feature) that were handpicked by me from her Flickr page. I would like to present Oksana Korda from Moscow, Russia for feature III. Oksana is a photographer and she also specializes in post production of photographs(color correction and retouch). I am lucky to stumble across her work because she has wonderful photographs! I would like to present Dreamers-Scenery Photography; the man behind these photographs is Mike. He has an impressive gallery that I believe you all will enjoy. Even though he is not majoring in the art field at college, he has a lot passion for photography and you could see it in his work. 2013 Run or Dye 5k at Toyota Park

This was my very first 5k event I attended and it was fun! I didn't have a great camera to shoot photographs, but all thanks to my friend Cristina for giving me permission to share these awesome photos she took for the world to see! Kemah Boardwalk

The Trip

Houston, Texas. I hate this state for its hot weather, but it was great to have had the opportunity to spend lots of time with family and other people I haven't seen in many years. The days went by so fast I also didn't get to see a close friend and other family that live there.  This trip also ended my back to back weekend of becoming a godfather.  Anyway, thanks to my godson for bringing up the idea of coming to this location called Kemah Boardwalk. It was like miniature version of Chicago's Navy Pier.  Hope you all enjoy the photographs I captured of this trip.
