Artist Feature #8

It's been almost a month since the last time I've feature someone and here is my latest one.  I would like to introduce Michaela Forbus for this feature. She is a student in the photography field and I am grateful to have stumbled across her gallery because she has some amazing work that I believe deserves more attention.  Michaela's photo shots of animals is what impressed me the most.  It really reminds me of photos from the National Geographic Magazine.  There are other shots like the one below(the one with the lady laying down) where the depth of field is pretty awesome.

Artist Feature #7

I would like to present Ivan Cardiel aka 'DJ ICey' for artist/business feature #7.  He is a cousin of mine who has been working on his DJ business services for several years.  DJ ICey & DJ Teezie DJ Service originated in Windsor, CA and since then has DJ'd in all the surrounding areas. They have even gone out of Sonoma County to provide their DJ service in Sacramento, Concord, Pittsburg, Monterrey, and more! DJ ICey and DJ Teezie DJ Service has also been known to do voluntary events for the California Academic Decathlon State competition in Sacramento.  

A little over a year ago I asked him if I could help him redesign his logo. He happily accepted and I came up with the logo that you can see in the above image.  Here is a brief interview to answer some questions about his services and about himself.

Q: So how long have you been doing this for?

DJ ICey: Well I have been doing it since I was a junior in High School (2006) and I've been getting better throughout the years. I started with CDs and then moved on to using Serato with DJ controls. I do DJ with my friend Tomas Salinas once in a while but its hard since we live three hours away from each other.

Q: What type of events do you usually go out to DJ?

DJ ICey: I DJ mostly for private events including weddings, quinceaneras, bautizos, and school events (fraternity/sorority events).

Q: And what type of music do you play?

DJ ICey: Hip-Hop, R&B, Rap, Reggaeton, Techno, Dance, Electro, Cumbias, Banda, Corridos, Merengue, Pop Latino, Hyphy, Jerking, Baladas, Tribal, Rancheras, and much MORE!!!

Artist and Business Feature #6

I would like to present Brandie Gonzales, she is a beginner in the art field who has a bright future ahead of her.  Her creative work includes painting, drawing, photography, wood burning art, poems and much more!  I have been watching her work and she reminds me of myself when I was younger in my early days of creativity.  Below are the the top artwork's I chose from her gallery.  If you enjoy what you see, then mask sure to check out the rest of her gallery/work.

She is also working with her mom in a small business her mom has started.  They sell homemade goat milk soaps, these all natural soaps won't leave your skin all dry, itchy, or destroy your skin cells like most soaps that you buy at stores. So if you have any problems with major brands of soaps, check out these goat milk soaps. They also sell other homemade products that may be an interest for you.

Project Windy Storm Teaser Video Overview

Director's Point of View

Here is my long overdue overview of what I personally thought about my teaser video, film shooting, and everything else.  First of all, I am very happy with my 50mm lens that I have purchased early this year.  I've done research and a 50mm lens is supposed to be the lens that is used most to shoot professional video and by professional I mean the Hollywood filming type.  I was really excited to see what I can shoot with this thing.

As I started shooting lots of film, it felt great! I really wanted to show the world what I see when I head out downtown.  After looking through all the video I filmed, I noticed that there's lots of shaky cam.  I was disappointed by this because it looks like a amateur home video.  This I would say was my biggest failure!  I was kind of discouraged to continue this project afterwards for awhile, but then I realized I can learn from failure.  I am hoping that someday I invest in equipment to shoot steady video in a professional level.  

Enough about failure and let's talk about what worked.  There were times when I did carry my tripod and the results were phenomenal.  The best shoot I believe was when I went out to this auto show. In this auto show there was a motorcycle event and I got super close to capture the action.  There was a moment when the motorcycle was literally like a foot away from touching my camera…yeah it was stupid of me because I could've gotten my camera broken, but it was well worth the shot I took! This was my overall success of my project so far.

Editing is always a difficult process.  I tried to tie in video clips that were closely related to each other. For example, I wanted to transition all the city clips together and then all the vehicle clips, etc.  I believe I did a decent job at doing this part of the video.  Like I said, I was kind of disappointed with my shooting so I was limited with what I wanted to do in the editing process.  I chose the song for the video because one: Chicago based artist, two: I wanted a very short song for the teaser, three: wanted to send a message to all my family, close friends, and everyone who were close to me… a message saying thanks for being in my life and I'll always remember and miss all those good times.

Artist Feature #5

For Artist Feature V I would like to present a good friend of mine, Clemente Renteria.  His photography is a really inspiring one.  I take a look at many of his photographs and I ask myself, 'How did you get take that shot?'  His photographs will make you stop and take a moment to appreciate the art behind it.  I picked the top six out of the 700+ photograph from his gallery.  I would strongly recommend that you take a look at the rest of his gallery.

I am very happy to introduce you all to a good friend of mine Cristina aka Esoterikos5.  She is another self taught artist and I am always impressed at the shots that she takes.  For fun we always jokingly challenge/criticize each other's work to see who's better, but she seriously does take amazing shots.  Below are the images(trying to keep maximum of 6 pics for each feature) that were handpicked by me from her Flickr page. Artist Feature #3

I would like to present Oksana Korda from Moscow, Russia for feature III. Oksana is a photographer and she also specializes in post production of photographs(color correction and retouch). I am lucky to stumble across her work because she has wonderful photographs! She is looking to meet and collaborate with photographers from all over the world so she can make post production of their photographs.
